STUDY AT THE BOLSHOI ACADEMY THIS SUMMER

East Street Ballet invites high intermediate and advanced dancers in the region to apply for this once in a lifetime opportunity to travel to Russia, study at the prestigious Bolshoi Ballet Academy and experience the city of Moscow.

Two weeks at the Bolshoi Ballet Academy
For the second year, East Street Ballet has been invited to attend special training sessions at the Bolshoi Ballet Academy in Moscow, Russia during summer 2012. Arranged and led by Irina Vakhromeeva, the Artistic Director of East Street Ballet, the training programs will run from July 16 - 29 and from July 30 - August 12.

Includes Weekend Intensive at Vaganova Academy in St. Petersburg
Each group will travel to St. Petersburg with East Street Ballet's Artistic Director Irina Vakhromeeva, a graduate of the Vaganova Academy, to attend a weekend intensive program at the school.

The Bolshoi Ballet Academy
The Bolshoi Ballet Academy is one of the oldest and most prestigious ballet schools in the world. Founded in 1773 the Academy is the affiliate school of the Bolshoi Ballet and produces the majority of the Bolshoi Ballet dancers, as well as some of the most successful and distinguished dancers, choreographers and dance educators in the world. The Academy offers a world renowned professional teaching staff with international teaching and performing artists.

What to Expect
The Bolshoi’s method of teaching is founded on a thorough, comprehensive, classical training curriculum that is carefully coordinated to the student’s ability. The summer session’s curriculum will be based on the Vaganova method and will include six hours a day of training including: Ballet Technique, Pointe, Variations, Repertoire, Pas de Deux, Character and Historical Dance, and Acting. Classes will be held at the Academy which has one of the best dance training facilities in the world. Students will live and eat in the in-house school dormitories. Accompanying parents and teachers will act as translators and chaperones.

Evenings and free time will be spent touring the historical sites as well as attending performances at “Summer Seasons”, a prominent ballet show featuring the Moscow City Ballet and the Russian National Ballet Theater. The performances take place in the heart of Moscow next to the world renowned Bolshoi Theater and opposite the Kremlin and Red Square.

Costs
The tuition fee of $3770 includes all classes, dormitory accommodations, breakfasts and lunches, plus the trip to St. Petersburg. Airfare, visas, and dinners are not included.
